Under Armour is globally recognized sports and athletic apparel company based in Baltimore. Naturally, their Vail, Colorado retail operation was created in support of their line of outdoor snow, ski, and hiking apparel. Inspired by this emphasis on winter sports, A+I created a playful environment reinforcing the connection between the apparel and the great outdoors.
Garments are displayed down the center of the space with a custom white display rack, nicknamed “the rail,” which emulates the shapes seen in obstacles that are part of a freestyle skiing course. Around the perimeter, clothes and other apparel are neatly organized, broken up by mannequins highlighting the various “kits,” or outer shell garments, worn by winter sports enthusiasts. Floor-to-ceiling environmental graphics of mountains, snow, and sport punctuate the space.
