Interns Christian Nunez and Rachel Maxwell Spend Summer 2025 with A+I
This summer, A+I had the pleasure of welcoming two exceptional interns into the fold: Christian Nunez and Rachel Maxwell. Christian joined A+I from The City College of New York, and Rachel from Howard University in Washington D.C. From day one, they dove headfirst into studio life, quickly becoming an integral part of the firm.
Rachel approached the summer with an open mind and a natural ease for people—she made fast friends across the firm and was excited to discover how much she liked the details of design. Site visits opened her eyes to the realities behind the renderings and she found learning the tricks of the trade resourceful. She also appreciated how approachable and generous everyone was, from her peers to firm leadership. A lunch with A+I’s co-founders Brad and Dag stood out as a highlight, and so did the overall firm culture.
Christian brought a background in construction and an eagerness to bridge the gap between site and studio. He especially enjoyed site visits, loved seeing how decisions are made collaboratively, and found excitement in the fast pace of project timelines. Whether joining Monday All-Staff meetings or finessing a drawing set, Christian soaked up the rhythms of the firm and reminded A+I just how energizing a curious mindset can be.
Throughout their time with A+I, Rachel and Christian rolled up their sleeves on everything from building the internal details library to jumping into team working sessions and to developing templates that will continue to be used long after the summer ends. They asked thoughtful questions, brought fresh perspectives, and offered a reminder that great design is powered by openness, generosity, and an eagerness to try something new.
